As a world leader when it comes to producing the flax plants necessary for creating high quality linen, we went straight to France for the best of the best. The damp coastal climate, nutrient rich soil and experienced growers from Normandy make for a winning combination. Sure, you can grow it elsewhere, but you’d have to compromise on quality, and that’s not something we’re prepared to do. As one of the strongest and most durable natural fibres, linen won’t stretch and is resistant to damage from abrasion. It’s also breathable and moisture wicking, making it a great choice for the spring and summer months. Turning flax into linen is a long and complex process. Our flax plants are sown, pulled and retted in Normandy. Next up, a process called scutching happens whereby the flax fibres are prepared for spinning. After this, the linen is ready to be woven and knitted into sheets, before being transformed into the Grana pieces you know and love.
