When it comes to flax plants necessary for creating high quality linen, we went straight to France for the best of the best. The damp coastal climate, nutrient rich soil and experienced growers from Normandy make a winning combination. As one of the strongest and most durable natural fibres, linen won’t stretch and is resistant to damage from abrasion. It’s also breathable and moisture wicking, making it a great choice for the spring and summer months. Turning flax into linen is a long and complex process. Our flax plants are sown, pulled and retted in Normandy. Next up, a process called scutching happens whereby the flax fibres are prepared for spinning. The linen is then woven and knitted into sheets, before being transformed into the Grana pieces you know and love.
