He’s the cool guy that always knows what’s up, and curates warehouse life at Grana accordingly – meet Marco, our Warehouse Manager.
What do you do here at Grana?
I take care of everything that happens in and around the warehouse. From receiving shipments to buying birthday cakes for team members.
What’s it like working at Grana compared to your previous jobs?
Being from Hong Kong, one of the things I noticed when I joined Grana is how multicultural it is – I have colleagues from all over the world! So, I think you perhaps get a richer cultural experience here than at other companies.
What have your learnt about people through your job?
My job requires a lot of communications across different teams; and since our office is so diverse, I’ve learnt that different people react or deal with situations differently. By observing, I’ve also learnt how to customise communication to get the best result from different people.
What’s the most difficult thing about your job?
The playlist! A warehouse also typically has a lot of mundane and repetitive daily tasks. I really like to make our warehouse as fun as possible and a part of that is our Playlist. The music playing in the warehouse has always been appreciated by the rest of the office when they pass by or come through, and it’s a difficult task to continue to keep it up to standard.
What do you look for in quality when it comes to curating your life?
As I get older, I’m more focused on hand crafted items that will last longer. I’m not interested in filling my life with ‘things’ of poor quality.
Can you tell us a bit about the places you’ve traveled and how they influenced you as a person?
Recently, I went to Europe, for the first time. I was amazed at how slow people can be (compared to the fast pace here in Hong Kong). It was refreshing to see people taking the more time to enjoy the moment.
What do your friends know you for?
I’m known for being the playful, talkative one; and the one who always has the stand-out hairstyles and clothes.
