It all starts with Peruvian pima cotton and ends with a twist (literally). The latest member of our Peruvian pima family is Pima Slub (shh this one may be our favourite… don’t tell its siblings). Pima Slub is a uniquely spun knit that leaves the fabric with a textured feel that truly separates it from the regular tee. Because each fabric is spun and twisted with a special technique no two are ever the same.
Old School Is the Right School
Our cotton comes from the rich soils of Peru and are completely harvested using the age old technique of two-feet-and-a-heartbeat. Translation = hand picked. This means that our cotton remains intact and incredibly soft throughout the harvesting process, it also means that there are zero gas emissions from machinery during the harvest.
Our Peruvian pima cotton also has a fibre that’s twice as long as other cottons. The extra-long fibres make for super durable cotton that’s also long-lasting, which make it the perfect accomplice for constructing our Pima Slub. Now This Is Where Things Get Twisted
Once our cotton’s been harvested it moves into the trusty hands of our Peruvian pima fabric experts that have decades of experience and knowledge in knitting cotton. Their skills combined with state of the art technology, means that our Pima Slub get’s the perfect amount of twisting and knotting which is known as the signature of the fabric. Our twisting technique is what gives the fabric that textured lived-in feel with the perfect amount of stretch and retention.Dipping and Dyeing
Finding the right colours to dip our preciously made Pima Slub in is important to us. To make sure that our clothes keep the bomb colours that we’ve selected for them, we use eco-friendly dyes on our fabric and then wash them to make sure the dye sets.Snipping and Stitching
Once our cotton’s been hand picked, crafted and dyed we move to its careful construction. Our Pima Slub is all cut and pieced together one by one with…you guessed it hands. By giving our clothing this careful attention we’re able to monitor the quality and ensure it’s the highest every single time. Anytime there is leftover fabric or off-cuts we make sure it’s donated or recycled to insure that nothing ever goes to waste.
