At Grana we don’t have summer sales, or boxing day sales…or winter sales…or fun or puppies (just kidding, we have loads of the last two). We don’t do sales because what we do is a sale all year round. No strings attached.
The hunt for a summer sales has begun but you should know something before entering the realm of plastered red SALE signs.
Retail’s Best Kept, Worst Secret.
For decades, many retailers have been using deceptive pricing tactics to get people through their doors. They’ve been accused of increasing “original” prices so that sales look like even more of a greater bargain. By inflating prices in anticipation of sale seasons retailers are often left to make-up their own original price. This way when they “slash” the price of an item it looks too incredibly jaw-dropping to resist. Retailers have also been falsely advertising store wide sales to get you inside and some even show a lower price on the tag that’s not in their system (so you end up paying more at the checkout). Not cool retailers…not cool.
How We Do High Quality for a Low Price
Unlike traditional retailers, we ship everything from one global warehouse in Hong Kong. Once your t-shirt arrives in our warehouse, we don’t use any agents, distributors, wholesalers, retailers or traditional brick and mortars to get it to you. These all increase the final pricing of your favourite tee. Instead, we only have one warehouse, one website and deliver directly to you. It’s just you and us, so intimate.
We focus on finding the world’s finest fabrics and design all our products in-house. We build personal relationships with our factories and mills to create wardrobe essentials that are made to last. Because of this we’re able to offer you the same quality t-shirt for US $15 rather than the traditional retail price of US $48. That’s a 2-3 times mark-up rather than the traditional 6-8 times mark-up.
What This Means for You
Let’s say you’ve just walked into a luxury store that’s having a sale. You see a t-shirt that you love. It’s on sale for 50% off its ‘original’ price (this is music to your wallet’s ears), so you buy it. Basically, due to price inflation on the original price, even after the sale, you’ve just paid well over US $24 for a t-shirt that cost US $8 to make. A t-shirt that we sell all year round for US $15. This is why by operating as a lean supply chain we’re able to keep our prices low, so you can buy modern essentials at honest prices without sacrificing quality.
That’s why this season, like all other seasons, our prices remain the same. That’s a bargain.realdeal / by Grana / 07.15.16
